I wonder if I should be looking for a Neo-Pak that goes down to 2 ohms. I could add another 4 ohm cab if I wanted to (perhaps something light) and keep the 4 ohm 2x12.

Is there a significant volume difference between the Neo Pak and Shuttle 6.0 at max output (500w vs 600w)? In my experience, 100w does not make that much difference.

Tone difference?

Only you can decide, but for my needs the Neo-pak is better than the Shuttle. You would definitely notice some difference in oomph between the two at 4 ohms. If you mainly gig with a single 4 ohm cabinet and want maximum power into it, then the Shuttle might be for you. I've never had a volume issue with the Neo-pak into the Neox 212. It gets plenty loud for me, but if I have doubts before the gig I either bring the 112 as well, or I'll take the 1200. The Neo-pak on top of the 212/112 is plenty loud for most things, and it's easy to hear because the rig stands so tall. At 2.67 ohms, the Neo-pak handles it just great, and I could add another 112 if I needed to and get even more volume out of just one head.

Yup. Eublet is a maniac (lol) and puts 500 watts into 3 12s, while I put 600w into 2 12s. All other things being equal, Eublets rig is louder than mine. THe 100 watts doesn't compare to adding a whole other speaker IMO. So for max volume? 112+212+Neo-pak. Can't beat it for the weight/volume ratio!

Haha! The thing for me is that I just love the tall stack, even when I don't need half the volume it will produce. It just sounds good and feels good to stand in front of. I like the radiation on my back. I like to get within a few feet of my rig. I know a lot of people say you should stand out in front of it, and that's cool. I understand why. But I've always heard Gary Willis talking about staying close to his rig, keeping the volume lower, and hearing the tone from that vantage point. To me, it's just cool sounding. It feels like you are playing at much higher volumes than you really are, and I seldom am told to turn down when I do this. But it just doesn't work when your standing over a single cabinet. So I prefer 2 ohm operation.

I have a Shuttle 3.0 10 T combo.

I use it with acoustic trio. ( Bass, Guitar, Harp)
Sounds great

I also have the extension cab.

With the extension cab, this rig is good to go for small and medium gigs
with drums.

Plenty of volume, great head room.
B-string sounds very focused.

My back is loving this.

Yah, AMS finally sold out last week I think. Best place is the 'bay now.

I had an interesting problem crop up last week with my Neo-Pak, BTW. Our hard rock band gets LOUD and the Neo-Pak was pushing my 210 so hard that the head started moving and almost fell off of the cab (with Tolex). Yeesh. Where's my bungie cords?

Yah, I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye and was impressed. I'm switching to a carpet-covered cab this week in order to avoid that happening again.

And yah, for 2 ohms you'd need to find a Neo-Pak on the used market, but you also might consider a GBE600 which is a bit more powerful than a Neo-Pak in a traditional-sized unit.
