Genz-Benz Shuttle Megathread: Part II

With all these great options I cant make a decision! :)

I play at church straight from a Sansamp BDDI into the board and was thinking about getting the 3.0/10t because it would be cool to use the 10 as a stage monitor and just run straight out from the Shuttle DI. However..... I also play in a semi loud Rock/Alternative cover band with 2 guitars, drums, and vocals without help of a PA in most cases and I would assume getting the Shuttle 6.0 would fit better for that application. I have both an Avatar 410neo and a 112neo as well (both 8 ohms) so I could always pair the 3.0/10t with one of those if needed but wouldnt it be bad matching a 1x10 with a 4x10? To make it more confusing I also play upright and sometimes get together with friends to play some loud Rockabilly/Punkabilly stuff too. I give up :help:

Im leaning towards just getting a Shuttle 6.0 head (the 1x12 combo is out of my price range) and using the 2 cabs I already have since I know it would handle the volume of any situation I have but if anybody has any different suggetions im all ears.

You know you can easily slide the 3.0 head out from the 3.0-10t combo, right? Here's what I'd suggest:

The 3.0 head powering your Avatar 4x10 plus 1x12 at 300W would be your really big rig

The 3.0-10t combo plus your 1x12 for pretty big gigs (maybe for Rockabilly as well)

The 3.0-10t combo alone for stage monitor or upright work.

I am also very happy you guys are getting the same results as I am because the beatings have stopped... I can say I am more and more impressed with it everytime I use it and that says something to me... Genz IS THE BOMB. I haven't used the combo with the 12 but I do run my NEOx112's quite regularly and love them.

I plugged in the 3.0/8 on Tuesday and am still blown away by it. We did take the head out and drive a Genx 410 with it and wow. It was really cool to show that off.

Love my shuttle 3.0 10t for upright.

For times when I need more umph I plan on using it with my 4 ohm avatar 2x12 alone w/o the 1x10. then it'll be 300watts. I know what a 300 watt GK 800rb sounds like on that cab, and 300 watts will be enough for me.

OK Dennis,
Now you see what I mean about the "mini-monster", huh!!! That 3.08T is hard to believe until you strap up and test drive the thing!!!
I'm going to do a multiple test tomorrow night. Playing a "regular" spot on the patio and will set up the 6.0 / 212 neox AND the 3.08T with a 112 Neox and bounce back and forth to see what each will do or not do on it's own.
... and at some point the 6.0 and 112 neox will be in the mix to see if I can recreate the roof shaking you did a couple of weeks ago. LOL.....

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Im sure the 300+ watts that the 3.0 delivers will be enough for anything I do. If not, there will be about 50 people in line to buy it from me so it's a low risk proposition. Thanks!

I had just ordered in my second Neox112t cab from Corner Music, and it arrived today. I wanted to try it out in the store before taking it home just to make sure everything was okay, so I took it out of the box. A secondary motive was to try the Shuttle 6.0 again into a cabinet that it's probably better suited to. If you'll remember, I tried it in the 210 combo and into the STL10t cab, and preferred the little Shuttle 3.0.

Well, the 6.0 *really* comes alive into a Neox112t, imho. I plugged in a '62 Reissue P bass and it was instantly warm, thick, rich and alive. It was very familiar due to me playing the NeoPak into a Neox112t, but there's just more there. Tons of headroom and available volume, at least as it appears from cranking it in a music store (not the most accurate environment, of course).

I've got a gig I'm going to drive the two Neox112t's with the NeoPak. Thought it was tonight ... even paid for two day shipping to get the cab today to use tonight ... but it's actually next Friday. Anyway, I'm going to see how the 2 112's and NeoPak handle that room, which is larger than what I've been playing recently. If I ever think I need anything more than the NeoPak, I'm now thinking the 6.0 might be the way to go.

Although I still harbor fun thoughts of throwing the NeoPak into a 4 space rack on top of a Stewart World 2.1 ... yummmmm.

I just got back from the music store I'll be teaching at and low and behold, the 3.0/8 combo was left behind. So I had to do it, I went out to my car and pulled in the NEOx112 and had a go at it. The poor guys in the store even had an explicitive over thaat one. We ran it in to an XB410 on Tuesday and it was cool. The 112 was simply smashing. They about died over the warmth and solid tone of the thing. Quite frankly so was I.
They didn't have a speakon handy to plug the 112 in with the 8 inch but good lord, it didn't need it. I am stunned by this stuff everytime I play it.
Terry, start with the 6.0/112... it will be you "Quiet "set any way...lololol:bassist:

Now that I have covers, I am gonna look for a strap with the plastic buckle to speed up cove removal. HMMMMM acording to FedEx website, 212 cover number 2 should be here today.

Just had my first rehearsal with the new 3.0-10T at my church today, and it was a raging success! Way better tone and LOUD! We have a fairly big sanctuary with about 180 people, and I don't need to turn up past half and don't need to use the D.I.

The music director/worship leader was blown away and impressed at the amount of powerful, quality tone coming out of such a small, light box!

It's always good when new gear actually works out! :D

Tomorrow, I'll report how it does when the room is full...

When I was shopping for my Shuttle, I wanted a combo, so I compared the 3.0-10T to a 6.0-212T (they didn't have the 6.0-12T in stock, so I had to compare to the 2x12 combo).

My impression was that the 6.0 had more headroom and the tube grit, but not really that much more volume. I could push the 6.0 harder, but the 3.0 1x10 combo was so loud, soulful, and room shaking, it created more of an impressive experience for me. I also had to take the size and weight of both combos into account, as well as the price. The 3.0-10T won out for me because it could fit in my vehicle easier, along with my bass, and it is so light I can carry my Warwick thumb Nt in its bag over my shoulder and carry the 18lb. amp in the same hand with no straining!

I might have went for a 6.0-12T if they had one in stock, but the FET preamp on the 3.0 is so good sounding I didn't see any need to wait for a 6.0-12T to come in - the 3.0-10T was already perfect, cheaper, and lighter!

They asked me to turn down the 6.0/112 -or "Jr." as it's now being referred to- again today at church.
Auditorium seats like 1500.

Too loud.....6.0/112........ I LOVE that!!!!:bassist:
