Where to order F#?

I have only found them on Conklin's website, but they don't seem very thick. One is .150, which is the size one of my B strings on my five string. The other is .165, but is out of stock.

The ones on the Warwick basses are at least .175, but I don't know where to order them. I just need the single string, but cannot find one anywhere.

Go to Link Removed to the "single string" section and click on bass. There will be many brands listed, and so start looking at B strings or larger with gauges you are looking for. I do not think they sell Warwick, but if not, find one with the description you are looking for. If not, I would then email Warwick to find a dealer you could contact that might have one in stock. Good luck with your search, and I hope it comes out successful for you.

.150 is more suited for a Low G or A tuning but its doesn't sound to good at B.(just what I think) As far as Bigger strings I will +1 Dogbone. Octave4plus.com makes the biggest strings I have ever heard or seen. Garry (octave4plus) makes a Low G# string now which is in .260 gauge up to .270. I have used his E0(.186) string and it was great. Garry makes the strings also according to the specs of your bass. So every single string he makes will be custom made.

So if you want a custom made string for ultra low tuning, Garry is the man! SIT strings are pretty good also. I haven't been able to get them very often because they are always out of stock. AND SIT makes a low C# string also which is .195 gauge.

And another option is to buy some strings from Knuckle guitar works. knuckle_head is his name on TB. He is collaborating with someone else and making I believe .175 strings for now but will be adding more gauges down the road.

If you just want the .175 Warwick string (which is a better string than the conklin .165 in my opinion), you can find it in an ebay store call Mike's Chop Shop. That's where I got mine.

hmm, so people use a .175 for a low F#? i was assuming
that a low F# would be a .150, and the lower C# would
be a .175-.180...

If you have a 36 scale then yes.
.150 tuned to F# on a 35 will not give good results.

I had the .175 string for my Warwick Vampyre and the tension wasn't perfect. It was ok, but could have been better.
I think .185 would be a perfect gauge.
