Let's have a bit of fun shall we? I am fully aware of the "tone is in the fingers" diatribe, but just play along here.

Instead of the usual list of ambiguous buzzwords people make to describe what they want in a Bass, why not just post a number of songs for people to listen to so my words do not betray my intentions and desires?


As for the price of said Bass that I am looking for... let's go with something less than $2500 without tax added.

As for the amp I use, it is a Mesa M9 Carbine through a Mesa Powerhouse 212.

Indeed, its an interesting idea, but its difficult, takes a lot more than a bass to get any of them tones, amp, speakers, eq, pedalboard, the non live one have been mastered.

The same bassist could probably change either his rig, or bass, and still get their tone, or you could be reccomended a bass, go off and get it, and not have that tone at all.

I think the Warwick$$ and Traben suggestions are in the ballpark, and what I'd use if I was attempting that setup.

Ted from Amon Amarth uses an ESH Bass, not an ESP.

And Toshiya from plays an ESP sig based on the Gibson RD. His tone sounds more like a deeper P Bass live.

The Bassist for Strapping Young Lad uses a Fender, so that must be why.
