Also, how much is a Warwick Streamer $$ 5 in America?
I know it costs about ~£1200 stock across the pond where it is more widely available.
Not to mention, a 5-string $$ NT is pretty rare.

If I find one in a finish I like with black hardware, maybe. $2k for a $3k Bass I think is ugly is not a deal to me.

A lot of those bassists you listed use Warwick. Honestly, a Corvette Standard would get you that really mean aggressive sound. I sure as hell miss mine.

I didn't listen to everything (waaaay too much, lol) but it seems like a Bongo HS/HH 5, Spector Euro 5LX, Warwick Streamer Jazzman 5, or Warwick Streamer Stage II would all get you the tone you're looking for.
Pretty much any company that builds jazz and precision basses will do it, Valenti, Sadowsky, Mike Lull, Low End, etc. Even Fender makes them.

On the short list.Well, Arif uses a spector, but i'd say an American Precision 5

I'll be honest... I'm unfamiliar with all the bands listed except Mars Volta, and am barely familiar with them.
Well you should get interested in Protest the Hero and Mastodon because those are the two heavy hitters on that list.

Pick up a used Modulus Genesis 5 string for around $1500 or less and be totally amazed! It will cover the sounds you are looking for.
Go grab one of the 2 'vette $$ in the classy, they r both around 800-900 and u have the choice between a black and a green one
I reccomend green, bloody lovely finish.

I'm gonna recommend a used Spector NS5CRFM. They hover around a grand and I've seen some for as low as $750 to $800. It will give you the tone you seek. No joke. That and my 4 string Spector give me all the Metal tone I need and then some.

And someone with the skills to route out the bridge pickup area for an MM.
I don't offer this to be ironic, and I know that most think the only way to get good tone is with an expensive bass. I just took delivery of an SX 4 string Jazz short scale and I can tell you it's not true. I wouldn't even upgrade the neck pickup for your use.
