New Warwick Rockbass basses!!!!

Hey has anyone seen or played the new Warwick Rockbass basses at Guitar Center yet??? Ive played one and they look and sound great!!! They have natural ash bodies i believe, passive electronics...but what struck me the most is that they have all the features the regular Warwicks have: the "W" emblem on the headstock,(not the cheesy Rockbass) the special warwick bridge, the Adjust-A-Nut, and easy open cavity and truss rod compartments. everything was top notch...with a price tag of under $700 for the 5 and $650 for the 4.

That's all right & correct, except for one little detail.
Depending on the model, they're either alder or carolena(Streamer std), with laminated maple necks & rosewood fingerboards for fretted & tigerstripe ebony for fretless.
There's also a new model,the Corvette $$ Rockbass.Some models are passive,some active.
I'm glad you like the changes.

I tried a double buck Rockbass a couple weeks ago at my GC and I liked it, but it was priced at $850... I then went home and looked for a used Warwick (not Rockbass) and found one in great condition for $800, so I went with the real deal.

These are nice basses though, definitely a better price point for GC to carry. I liked the maple neck for the price

Oh yes you're absolutely right...it looks sooo much like ash though. The model I had used was the basic passive version and it sounded soo good... So resonant. I couldn't tell it was a rockbass until I looked at the truss rod cover. I thought they had some NOS warwicks or something. They must be really new cause I couldn't find any info on them that's why I posted this thread.

ya NEW Warwick corvette $$ are advertised at $ 850 in GC catalogs.

i was just at GC at lunch... they're not real warwicks, on the head on the tension rod cover it still says ROCKBASS, though on the pricetage it just says WARWICK.

they're mec $$, not emg, and they dont have the separate switches to put them in series/parallell, instead two of the volume knobs pop up or down.

i also don't think theyre bubinga or swamp ash, although ive never seen a honey violin finish in person, but i can tall they feel funny

neck still feels fast and it souned pretty mean coming out of a random GK head, but still, not a "REAL" warwick.

Warwick double bucks go for like $2100 new, I almost bought one last week.

You should have been in the market January of this year.

I found out here on TalkBass that GC was discounting the hell out of 'wicks as the US distributor was changing (not sure if there was a relation)...so I grabbed a $$ 5er for under a grand.

I was a happy camper...still am. :hyper:

Tried themem, didn't even come close to comparing to my Corvette Standard that I got for the same price used as the crappy Rockbass.

You're the very first person I've come across that has this opinion,& I moderate the Warwick forum so I tend to hear about this sorta thing first. The very first RB's werent as good. They were built in Korea, but production soon moved to China in a Factory owned by Warwick, using mostly machines that were retired from The German factory,& quality increased alot. The main issue with the Korean RB's was the spary jobs.Their sunbursts left alot to be desired.
I understand your experience was good, but that doesnt mean ALL RB's are,"crappy".If you get the chance, try out an 09 RB.;)

I have tried out the new ones, there are 2 at my local GC, to me, it didn't sound or feel Warwick-ish at all. I probably shouldn't have used the word crappy, because it wasn't a piece of junk, just not what I would expect for that much money and from a company like Warwick.

These are the models that I tried -
