Do any of you take your bass to work with you, for when you have a down moment, like, watching a computer do an install and you cannot leave it alone, etc.

Or maybe do you have an office bass? A second unit, maybe bought really cheap just to have something to pluck?

I'd probably get an Ashbory bass...not sure how they sound unplugged though, but they're tiny. Not cheap either

Yes! I create motion graphics for TV and I am constantly waiting for things to render. I like to keep a bass around to pick up and play while waiting. It's a great time killer.

I have one of these as a beater/office bass. Goes through a BP80 into a mixer into headphones. Sounds pretty good, actually.

Currently missing a tone pot as I pulled it out to replace one in my fiancee's bass.

I've always dreamed of this, but the only jobs I've had that would allow it were at music shops. Plenty of basses there already, no need to bring one.

Okay, good. I am not crazy then for thinking of picking up a beater bass to leave in my office. Or, I could be crazy, but at least I have company.

Whew!!!! Good to know I'm not the only person who does this. I work as a software consultant and I have a huge office all to myself. So I routinely bring one of my basses in to work with me on days that I have lots of HDD imaging or server downloads to do. As soon as I get my new rig build, I was thinking about brining my little GK Backline 110 in to work and leaving it here. I just play unplugged for now and it can be difficult to hear what I'm playing when the server fans are all kicked on.

I've had a Fender P-Bass Lyte in the corner of my office for years. I often get a little while at the end of the day to play. I think it's time to pick up an AmPlug.

Although I shouldn't, I sometimes keep a bass or guitar in my car so that, when my boss leaves early, I chill out at my desk and play.

One time I did an entire nut file (with old acoustic guitar strings) at my desk while my boss was out for the day.

And is it a pretty common consensus that the VOX AmPlug is better than the C Tech Pocket Rock-It? (That name alone makes me not want to buy it. LOL!)

I am curious, as well. Given that they are designed for headphones -- devices poorly suited for bass frequencies.

I was thinking about plugging my desk speakers into the AmPlug's headphone out. Could be interesting. Klipsch 2.1 powered desk speakers.

It should work. I have recorded direct from my amplug headphone out into my line in on my sound card. I have the Classic Rock version though, I got it before the Bass Amplug came out. Are you using the bass version, if so, how does it sound?

Indeed.

Heck, some Skullcandy Asyms will set you back $40 and can be bought just about anywhere. They have monster drivers in them that handle bass frequencies just fine. I use them for my stage in-ears and bought an extra pair to bring to work so I can hear and figure out basslines while I'm working.
