I don't have a specific bass I bring to the firehouse, but never go to work without mine. Sometimes it's my Jazz or Precision, sometimes my Jazz 5er (in a nice hardshell case) for playing in between calls. Just depends on what I'm working on. My vintage Ric never goes...I'm too scared something will happen to it.
I've been thinking about getting something I can just leave in my locker, instead of schlepping one of my nice Fenders back and forth, but it'd have to be $100 or under for a 10-times-a-month bass.
I also have a nice little Fender B-DEC 30 for an amp...
I dunno...I checked my local CL right after posting and there were a few Squier P's in the $100 ballpark. I have never really played an SX, but I'm reasonably certain that Squier necks are similar in feel to my Fenders. Is there anything better about SX?
Tone and appearance, in this situation, are irrelevant. I don't care how it sounds as long as it feels like my basses at home and doesn't buzz or lose it's tuning.
