Nothing will make a Jazz sound like a P. Get a P, and have them both !

This bass should have the pre-noiseless pickups, as my 1998 american deluxe has....if it's in good shape, it's a fair price. Is it active or passive? I ASSUME it's an American Jazz...if not, forget it. Have you looked at the '75 Jazz American Re-issue? Check the price, and try to play one.

Check Duncan's schematic against the one on the Fender website, available in the Mr. Gearhead section for your particular Jazz bass....You will also find the Fender part number for the original pot used in the guitar.....Hope this helps

trade the Ibanez.....it is much easier to replace than missing the chance at the G&L. IMO

Thanks, guys....I got the link to the manual, and I pulled the neck today....Body built Jan03 of 90, neck built Apr 03 of 90, and there is some sort of faded signature on the neck in the pocket, but I can't quite make it out. I found the truss rod adjusted easily, and my action is now fast and...

I've had some luthiers tell me the wood was better in those days. A tone issue.

Not sure about the pickup changes, but the Micro-tilt was one of the first things to happen when Fender was bought by CBS. Most, if not all, were 4-bolt in the pre-CBS days
