Smallest, Lightest ALL tube amp: 2020 edition

The Dover DA-50B looks pretty interesting. 50W all tube, and the designer apparently used to be a senior designer for Hiwatt. Very little in the way of reviews online though.

Flats for C-Standard tuning with a Drop A#?

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Get a 5-string .045 - .130 set and discard the 0.45 Most importantly though, take your bass to a competent guitar tech and get it properly set up for Drop A#, it will make the world of difference whatever strings you go with :)

Poplar or flamed maple for the top wood ?

Poplar is lighter, but wood tops are so thin they won't have much affect on the final weight of the instrument tbh. You can definitely forgoe a top wood on an alder bass if you are going for a solid colour option. Top wood is 100% for appearance. It is a very thin "slice" of wood that is used as...

Poplar or flamed maple for the top wood ?

If you're getting a solid colour finish then it really doesn't matter? Especially something like poplar or flame maple where the grain of the wood is the attraction. It won't make any difference to the tone of the instrument so go with whichever is cheapest.

Poplar or flamed maple for the top wood ?

Poplar because it looks cooler (imo ;)). It will have an imperceptible affect on tone.

Are higher priced Fenders really worth it?

Sterling Ray34 Warwick Corvette Ibanez SR2400 Sandberg California Lakland Skyline Darryl Jones We have a time traveler among us! I mean, the American Professional didn't exist until 2017, so that's the only way you could explain having an Am Pro pickup in 2011, right?

    Sansamp BDDI + Amplifier

My recommendation would be to try both at practice and see which one you prefer the sound of :) you're not going to do the amp any harm, and there's no right or wrong answer when it comes to tonal preferences :)

    Didn’t like SVT/810 - what ails me?

You're not alone OP. A lot of people here act as if the SVT/810 is the Holy Grail of bass amps, personally I can't think of a more boring, generic rig. I do wonder how many people actually truly love the sound of the SVT, and how many just claim to because it's what's expected of them, because I...

    List your 1st 3 amps.

1st - Fender Rumble 15(?) Combo. The one you get in the Squier starter pack :D Surprisingly fun little amp. Still own but currently on loan to a friend's son who is beginning to learn. 2nd - Orange OB1-300 + Orange OBC115. Really liked the head, wasn't a fan of the cab. Later added an OBC410...

Fender Rumble 800, Quilter 800 or Mesa 800+

Do you get most of your tone from your pedalboard, have a pedal based D.I. for your FOH sound, and need a relatively clean amp with plenty of headroom that takes pedals well to drive your cabs? Get the the Quilter Do you rely on your amp for most of your tone and need a D.I. for FOH? Get the...
