On closer inspection I see a taper, but it is well into the wraps around the tuner, about 40.25" from the ball end.

Welcome back everyone. I was wondering about this set. No wrapping on either end, no taper near the tuners, brass ball ends and round core. They have been on the bass for 24 years so my memory has failed me.
