Meh. I think there's probably a happy medium. What's true of your other relationships is also true of your musical relationships: there's a time and a place for being forthright with the absolute truth, but it's not 'always and everywhere'.

I suspect that if you ever have to ask yourself that question, the answer is almost certainly 'yes'.

Not unless your set is really, really, amazingly good. Wasn't it Led Zeppelin who famously went on their first tour of America without enough material for encores and ended up playing a bunch of their songs twice?

If your band is even slightly serious about the vocals, a good PA is a must. We have a a set of JBL powered speakers that we use as wedges in the practice space hooked up to a Mackie 8-channel board. In addition to our vocalist, we also have vocoder coming from the guitarist, backup vocals...

They do mellow after a while. I run them on my p-bass and my rick.

lol. Our practice PA is a bit better than what some venues around here pass off as front of house gear, so other than having to lug it...no problem. ;)

Update: booking guy got back to us, said no problem, 45-50 minutes would be fine, as long as the headliner got on by 10:30.

I moved my rick from flats back to rounds, mostly for tonal reasons. I needed something a bit brighter and more aggressive sounding for my current band.
