Trying GHS Bass Boomers this weekend

Love Boomers! I had them on my Ibby SR300 and they sounded/felt great. Only reason I took them off was to try another set of strings (Dean Markley Blue Steels SS), which failed in comparison to the Boomers for me. Not the tone I'm looking for...too bright....also didn't like the feel. So far, I've tried the stock strings that came on my Ibby (which were either D'add XLs or Elixirs - haven't been able to confirm which), Boomers, Blue Steel SS and now DR NEONs (red, white & blue). i like the Boomers the best.

I play in my church's Praise & Worship band and we play a lot of CCM. The Boomers have been the best fit for the music we play.

I played Boomers on my other bass, I set them up in August 2013...I recorded my bands first two singles, played three gigs and used it for practice all the way until May 2014 when I bought a new bass. They still sounded great by that point, but now they're dead because that bass has been sitting in the corner since then. They feel very smooth too, as opposed to other strings where the E string cut into my thumb when playing fast stuff.

WRONG. We dip them in barrels of Arcadia Beer under a full moon, geesh!!! :woot:

Yes, Bassics are Boomers that have no silk and fewer options in string gauges, and only come in one winding length.

update: I've played my Boomers 15 to 20 hours now. The clank is gone, the punch and low end are still there, and enough clarity to cut through. The G string seems a little weak, but to be fair, I haven't played it as much as the others so it may not be broken in yet. (may try adjusting my p'ups too). Also received several compliments on my sound from the rest of the band! Overall very good strings! Hope they last!

Medium gauge Boomers are the round of choice for my P-bass. I used them frequently on other basses back in the 80s and 90s, mistakenly moved away from them in the 00s because I thought they were stainless, then came back to them a year or so ago. Like their feel and their not-so-zingy sound compared to other similar brands. May give the very light gauge a go on my J once the D'Addario XL's on that bass go dead.
