Best flatwound for a Chris Squire tone?

Thanks man, I'll try that out. Yeah I can get a pretty good sound for Tempus Fugit by putting the bass through 3 different flangers with all the knobs set to 0.

Question About the Perception of Music Theory

You don't NEED theory to be a great musician, none of the Beatles could read music and they're considered arguably the greatest rock musicians, if not best of all genres. However they probably didn't learn because they initially didn't have the resources to learn, and by the time they became...

My first fretless! Squire VM J.

After a while I find I only use the lines as guides for position changes and I can "feel" where the notes are without looking

Best flatwound for a Chris Squire tone?

I'm playing Squier prescision bass (it has his name on it so it must sound like him, right?) through a Fender rumble 15 and I heard he uses fresh flatwounds for every concert, so I was wondering what flatwound you would recommend. I have to show a friend the bassline for Roundabout.

    turn up--and play less aggressively

Most musicians hate bassists who play softly, especially if their amp is really loud but they play too soft to compensate. Everything sounds better when the bass is loud.

    Inexpensive fretless recommendations?

Just got a squier vm, shop around though because some are pooly set up and some are really good. Also be warned that after playing a fretless you will never want to play a fretted again

    Best Year Rickenbacker bass?

I think there's a rumour that Hofner basses don't have truss rods (I don't know if this is true), the Hofner 500/1 was famously used by Paul McCartney, as well a Rickenbacker 4001...perhaps that's where the confusion stemmed? :D

    Math problem for calculus wizzes

*weird symbol that looks like an f (4 on top, -4 on bottom)* 4-(2-r)^2 dx? Then antidifferentiate between 4 and -4? We're learning this in year 11 maths, what is this for?

Jimi Hendrix is one of my Favorite Bass Players...

Yeah I'm not blaming him for not being able to learn a song straight away, and I agree that Noel suited his style at the time, but really he was onl in the band because of his hair :P And I disagree that Billy Cox was more pedestrian, listen to the extended jams at woodstock, Billy really adds...

    Buzzing, but not fret buzz

No help at all but I was playing a squier vm jazz fretless the other day with this same problem and it's between the nut and tuner because it stopped when I dampened there
