Hey! Sorry to open a dead thread and all... But I wondered if you finished your build, and if so, how you went about it!

The Big Free Music Related Software Thread

I'm so disappointed nobody mentioned PureData or the non freeware brother max/msp.

    Too good to be true?

Aint it true? Dj sites have so much cheap $#17.... I wouldn't look there, but I'm a dj and bassist (the former being the way I actually make money.. Lolz), I've dealt with the site before, and I need to expand.... But I think I'll try cl... Or I may just build my own, if thats possible.

    Too good to be true?

Okay... My drummer and I are looking to add subwoofers to our pa rig.... But we're poor and need to do it cheaply. Soo... Looking at a wholesale site (it's legit, I've bought from them before) I found these puppies. Technical Pro SUB15X V2 (Invalid Link Removed). With the "VIP discount" it is...

Exposed music festival - pay to play?

Do you have the website link handy? I did something like this... Called "next big thing" tour. Website was sketchy, 30 ticket deal... And if I remember.... It said something about an exposure music fest?? I can tell you with 100% certainty that this is legit... Won first place and booked a...

    Singing and Playing...AT ONCE?

I've found it immensely helpful to actually sing my bass line first.... Then sing the bass line and play it at the same time. Then continue by playing the bass rhythm on a root note and singing your part. It'll take a little bit, god knows how bad I am :P, but I've found that singing the...

8 track digital recording vs. audacity

I'd use the 8track unless you have a better audio interface for the audacity. Also, don't mix on audacity. GarageBand, sure. Logic, protools, cubase, even better. Even ableton will do in a pinch. But the quality of audacity is nowhere near that of paid, non freeware programs. Don't be afraid to...

    Another IEM thread.

Are you interested in the iem's or the receiver? I picked up a pair of customs for 250... Fidelity duo's. Sound really nice.

    Hartke LH500?

Love my lh500... Play it thru a hartke hydrive 410.... Sounds rock solid, warm, smooth, and it has a very wide tonal range. Built in limiter is nice too.

How often do you have PA support?

Never. We play small to medium venues and outside, but only the kick, synth, and vox go thru out band's pa. But we also don't have subs... Sooo... Yeah. I play through a hartke lh500 and hydrive 410... Packs enough sound at about 2:00 for everywhere I've ever played.

Finding the impedance of an unmarked cab....

I recently received two older Polk audio bookshelf speakers. I really really want to hear these things, but I need to get a poweramp. Problem is, I don't know the impedance. Is there any way to find this out (google=no.... I tried). Ps: it's not really a cab persay, but it still works. Thanks

    Yet another satisfied Hartke customer...

I LOVE my lh500!! And the hydrive 410 with my 4strjng was amazing. With my 5th it gets a little muddy, but maybe it's just me subconsciously justifying my GAS. haha. My favorite part of the lh500 is it's pure simplicity. It's a wonderfully straightforward head that sounds great :D

    n00b needs help!

As a bassist once in your situation, (a year or two ago, lulz) I can honestly say that the best thing to do is to SAVE. Get about $700 firm cash. A lot more opens up after that, new and used. Can you get a good rig used for $500? Yes. Can you get a great, reliable one? Mmm, chances are slim...

Use a powered P.A. sub to extend a bass rig ?

So, sell the 410, go for 210 cab and 110 sub? Or... Huh? And thx for the recommendation on the vorkville, I'll be sure to check it out!!
