Ampeg Classic vs Barber Linden vs Broughton Flip Top

The Ampeg SGT-DI sounds great indeed in B15 mode and 115 cab engaged. I didn't expect it to sound so good when I bought it. The other settings are not that convincing though (at least for my use), but you can load up to 3 user-IR's (cabs) in the pedal if you want.

New bass preamp pedal from NUX

Oh, that's not what I meant. Maybe my post was not clear enough... Thx anyway, Jkos had the answer I was looking for :-)

New bass preamp pedal from NUX

Does anyone know if there is a possibility to store a certain combination of Amp/IR on the pedal itself as a standard setting? I want to use the pedal as a standalone in an external studio with 'Starlift' amp in combination with 'AMP SV810' cabinet. I only need this one sound, and don't want to...

    lack of fatness

Also important: string action not too low, so the string can vibrate freely. Well-used strings sound thicker. On this video the strings on my bass are at least 5 years old, soft cloth-mute on the bridge, neck pickup 100%, bridge pickup 90%, tone 20-30% open. Low boost around 40-60Hz, mid cut...

Best flat wounds for reggae and dub?

I play reggae for 25 years now, live I use roundwounds because they have more definition on stage. In the studio I prefer flats, because of the focus on the fundamental. But strings are just one part of the chain; you can use all different kinds of strings, depending on your personal taste. As...

Does anyone use a passive DI with a passive p-bass for live shows?

Interesting information from the Radial website (load of passive DI-boxes): Years ago, most instruments used passive, low output pickups. Passive pickups "see" the device it is connected to, such as an amplifier input, as a load it must drive with it's output signal. Musicians found that...

NBD - 1981 Fender Jazz in Sienna Sunburst

Sorry for the very late reply, thanks ;-) With coaxial I meant the ground wire is wrapped (woven) around the the other one.

    ibanez srx700/500 bridge saddle angles

That is a must on these bridges. And don't try to correct this by re-shaping the small plates under the saddles, because they will break... I know from experience ;-)

    Low Tension Flats for Reggae!

I play reggae for over 25 years now, and tried a lot of different flatwounds. In general, I love the DR flats the most because of the smooth tension (round core) and great sound. Other low-tension flats are too thin to get a solid bass sound, the DR's have the ideal balance.

NBD - 1981 Fender Jazz in Sienna Sunburst

I was looking at the nice pics, and I noticed something: the pickups on this bass, do they have 'coaxial' wires? I got a set of pickups that looks exactly the same, with 6 digits ending on 81, same coaxial wires but black covers. They even have the same 'point-mark' on the copper winding. I...

Help me get a new understanding of the Hofner control panel

The switches just describe the sound you will get, not the pickups you select. In that way it is logic. It took a while for me to realize that "bass on" is more than selecting only the neck pickup; it cuts the higs too. Same with the "treble on", which does more than selecting the bridge pickup...

    Broken AMPEG SVT-3 ?

Hi, I use my ampeg SVT 3 pro as a power amp for my Sansamp RBI; just send the output to the power-amp-in of the SVT. Sounds much better than the SVT-preamp, and you still have the sound of the tube-driven power amp of the SVT.
