Practice amp/ phones/ Vox APHN BASS Amphones

I just got the vox amplug a few weeks back and I dig it. All you need is an aux and you can play along through headphones to MP3 and the tone is very true and sounds good in the mix imo. There's some good drum presets to that are fun to jam along with

    (Unfortunately) My first ebay dispute

You'll get your money back, as stated a few times above, eBay always sides with the buyer

I think I'll try this whole 'finger style' thing all the kids are talking about.

Make sure you're hitting the strings with the pads of your fingers and not the tips, basically aim your hand/fingers so they're pointed towards the ground and "walk" or "rake" up the strings. I started with pick as well and am still faster/cleaner with one, but that little advice helped me a...

Bob Dylan Wins Nobel Prize for Literature

I'm not denying his lyrical ability nor that his words can in fact be written on a page. I'm saying that his words probably would not have seen the light of day if he was solely a poet, and I just think it's unfair to all the writers who have dedicated themselves to finding music, rhythm and...

Bob Dylan Wins Nobel Prize for Literature

I think it's ridiculous. We have music awards for music, movie awards for movies, and literature prizes for literature which shouldn't be cheapened. Yes he was an amazing songwriter but his art existed (and was heard by the world) only because of the medium of music. The world already knows he...

    Pentatonics??

You can use more than just the root but it's not always going to be major or minor pentatonic. Use other chordal notes (usually the 3rd, 5th, octave) to make your basslines more interesting as well as chromatic notes/notes in the scale in between chord changes so they sound more fluid

    Poll: Best technical bassist

Voted Holger cause he's my favorite lol. But jpj is a close second and definitely more technical

    How Would You Handle This?

seems like a double whammy to me. I usually don't have a problem with someone plugging straight into my amp and using their own cables/bass, but that's always for their own music/band. a bigger annoyance would be that I'd have to sit out at my own gig just to let the guy I replaced play... nah...
