    I would highly recommend, but the heavy-relic finish isn't for everyone, I acknowledge. That said, I love it. It plays well, sounds fantastic.

    Best Fender Precision Bass era?

    I have played and / or owned a late 50's, a 1997, 2010, 2011, 2 Custom Shops (both 2011), a Nate Mendel (72 copy) and I presently have a 1973. The 1973 wins by a long distance. Sound, playability, quality and weight.

    Agree with the comments that you should try the '74 / get an approval period if possible. That said, my '73 is 8.6lbs, looks great, plays great and sounds out of this world. There are good ones out there!
