Tell me how you like your Ibanez

Of the current Ibanez production basses, I dig the ATK, the Jetking and the Artcores. I've never really met any other Ibanez I like in recent years. The SR's and the BTB's leave me cold. The older ones though...... Oh baby. If you're willing to dig a little and buy used you can find some...

    Confessions of a tone Philistine

Differences I can usually hear: -Round or Flat strings, -Single or Humbucker, -Neck, Middle or Bridge position soloed, -Active or Passive (provided its not an active set to sound like a passive) Not a chance in hell: -Fingerboard or body wood, -Bolt-on or Neck-through, -Nut or...

new ric coming in, what should i do.

I got the Hipshot bridge because of tail lift, and it had the saddle wobble problem. I made some spacers out of a piece of old, single-ply, peel-and-stick pickguard material, and it now works fine. It was a pain in the @$$ though, and for what they charge, a glaring deficiency. I like it...

    Connecting 2 Peavey TKO115 amps?

I use a Radial Big Shot ABY box to run two amps at once. It will split the signal between amp A, amp B, and running both amps at once. It also has a dedicated Tuner line out. All in all, a great pedal that can be had for a good price. I think mine cost about $60.00 new. Linky: [Invalid or...

No idea how to use my new Ripper

^ I was actually wondering about that! ^ Call me crazy, but I think a double Mudbuckered Ripper would be fun as hell. It would bring the DOOOOOOOOM........

Anyone ever made a P Bass with Ric PUs or Tbird pickups?

I'm pretty sure Lemmy had a Ric with this exact pickup configuration. Not in a P-Bass body, but the same pups in the same place.

    I love Longhorn Basses!

I've actually been GASsing for a Dead-On 58, but have heard a couple of horror stories about bridges pulling out of the masonite tops, tuning difficulties and electrical gremlins. Any truth there, or is it all BS?

Anyone Else Use Thier Dan Electro Long Horn as their No.1

I'll admit I've been intrigued by the recent reissues. I also had started a thread about putting a thumbrest on one, and heard a horror story about the bridge anchor screw on a Dano '63 stripping out of the body, so I'm a little leery. My GAS is starting to hurt, though..... Nice basses, cats!

    So, Danelectro owners....

Yikes! Really? So no block underneath the bridge, huh? How did you (if you have) fix it? Just curious...... This seems like a good idea. Thanks for that!

    So, Danelectro owners....

That's what I thought too, but the bridges are just screwed in. Is there a solid block under the bridges or something? Anyone know?

    So, Danelectro owners....

If I wanted to add a Fender-style thumbrest to one of these things, how do I go about it without causing excessive damage? I know they're made of Masonite or some such, so will it be secure enough if I just screw it on like normal? Disclaimer: I don't actually own one yet, but I'm really...

Was allowed to play a Rick 4001 tonight...

Yeah, Rics aren't for everyone. I love my '77 4001, but I've played others, even other '77 models, and hated them. There is a lot of variance between the models and the vintages, and it took me a long time (read: over a decade) to find one that I liked. That "one" was a Waraxe that needed a...
