Anyone Else Use Thier Dan Electro Long Horn as their No.1

I have about 6 basses, a couple of decent MIJ Tele Bass RIs, Hofner Club Epi Bird and my new Jaguar.

I find that I still use my 169.00 Long Horn as my primary Bass that I do shows with. The tone is so great, you can't screw up the tone if you tried.

For the Thur night Blues Jams at the Cadillac, this is my #1. With LeBella Danelectro .042 - .079 flats and GK MB210. Sweet to the ears...

I'll admit I've been intrigued by the recent reissues. I also had started a thread about putting a thumbrest on one, and heard a horror story about the bridge anchor screw on a Dano '63 stripping out of the body, so I'm a little leery. My GAS is starting to hurt, though.....

Thanks I don't own any expensive basses, just a bunch in that 500.00 range, although the Club Hofner was expensive

Yes I think it is Sea Foam Green, actually it doesn't look bad on stage, especially with a matching dress, check it out. "Dirty Little Secret"

I play my DC-Bass more than anyother, I assume they sound about the same?:

Clacky rather than clanky, chirpy rather than ringing, thumpy rather than booming?

If so I'd love to add another Danelectro.

The lipsticks on their newest releases are really good. I was playing their early 2009 release 34" double cut and it just sings like an Epi Jack Casady.

I seriously need to get some new pictures!

Lipsticks? Do you mean lipstick pickups? I've read about them but I've never had a chance to try them.

You hit the nail on the head with that one.

I agree, a nice funky thump, no boom.

I had a buddy agree with me that at times these basses seem to start phasing on their own. It's actually subtle and a good thing.

I just counted it's 6.

The only one I am not sure about keeping is the Epi Bird.I would just rather have the real Gibson version.However I think the Gibson TBird is the most over priced bass on the market.

I got mine used so I am not sure what vintage it is. It says Made In Korea/

I have had a 1973 Fender Precision since 1977 and used it at every gig...but not now...I have decided to "retire" my faithful companion after purchasing a 2009 Longhorn dead on 58 reissue made in China just recently. It is awesome and as it is so light in weight, the long gigs now are a breeze to get through. Love the sound of the new reissue lipsticks - I can almost replicate the Precision sound with it, and it is now my primary bass. Also have a Custom Guitar Workshop Thunderbird, and a 1978 Eston fretless ABG made in Italy (Eko rebranded for Australia until 1982).

I used to use a 1968 bullhorn as my primary bass in the 70's.

I had it wired in stereo/mono like a Rickenbacker.Used to run each pickup through it's own channel on my old two channel Ampeg SVT.Sometimes I would run a MXR Phase 90 on the bridge pickup and leave the neck pickup on straight.

Either way,mono or stereo,it sounded great.They could be a pain to intonate though.The new vintage reissue sounds great! I'm hoping to get one this year.
