For the Thur night Blues Jams at the Cadillac, this is my #1. With LeBella Danelectro .042 - .079 flats and GK MB210. Sweet to the ears...

I met a guy this weekend playing your exact set up; amp, strings, & all (well, maybe not the strings).
If you close your eyes it sounded just like a DB.
Brilliant!

Never heard of a 5 strings.
Fretless....well, maybe someone somewhere took out frets from a Dano.....let us know, it could be a killer sounding bass!

XXL Guitars in Montreal are in the process of producing a Longhorn-inspired bass. I was at their shop on the weekend and I think that this will be amazing - with a Jason Lollar bass p-90 pickup and a beautiful take on a scroll headstock.

My neighbor plays upright & electric in a bunch of Western Swing, C&W, and Classic Rock cover bands, and he swears his Danelectro is the only electric he'll bring to gigs anymore, even though he's got a mint made-in-USA Fender 5-string Jazz.
