It's amazing the tonal difference that changes in pickup heights can make - the tone on my mates '58 and '59 custom shop P's goes from open and sweet to focussed and growly with just a 1/8 turn of the pickup screws... could be worth experimenting with!

I have EXACTLY the same bass & my certificate of authenticity states the build date as 10/2007 with the serial number starting CZ503... so Z5 = '05 doesn't hold true for my bass... maybe yours is/was late 2008 after all! FWIW I bought my Custom Classic Jazz V to replace my Warwick Thumb BO5...
