Best scale length for 8 string bass

I play with a pick. Was leaning towards a 32” scale, just because I do not have that size. I think it wil be a jaguar style body. Anyone else have an opinion? Cheers, Tore

Best scale length for 8 string bass

Hi I have always been curious on 8 string basses so I decided to build one. But what is the optimal scale? 30”? 32”? 34”? And what nut width are the minimum, I like narrow necks. Hope someone who have build/played one can weigh in. Cheers Tore, Norway 🇳🇴

PART II: Bill Lawrence P-46/J-45 Pickups (BEST P/J Pickups EVER)!

Is took quite a while to get the pickups, but when I got them they where fantastic! The bass was made in a hurry of a old pine table and a neck I had lying arround. The bass was great, I have to do a bit of work om the body to make it look as good as it sounds. I think this will be a keeper...

The Preacher copy, short scale necktrough.

The mandolin is finished, at last... The pickguards need to get the screws in, and I need a string tree for the lighter strings. But it is playable! Have to fiddle a bit with string height an pickup height, but it works:) next up is the guitar. Cheers Tore
