    Ryan Martinie

He uses the so-called typewriter technique also used by John Entwistle. To me it looks like a version of tapping with one hand. I think he also uses regular slap and pop as well as fingerstyle.

Why the Fender Jazz is the Best Designed Bass Ever

I'm not a fan of the tone, but jazz bases are quite comfortable. For me there's just something about a Precision Bass. It definitely lacks the versatility but that one thing does it does perfectly for my ears. But a j-bass with a block inlay on the neck just looks really nice.

Disappointed! Jeff Berlin was here and now he's not.

Dismissive, angry, arrogant and insulting are terms I would use to describe a lot of members here. In fact this board is infamous for it among other places on the internet. He was banned as a scapegoat because he's well known among bass players and controversial.

Why wont my E string intonate properly?

String height, no sir. I'm tightening and loosening the screw at the bottom of the saddle. Not the ones fixing the bridge to the body. It's a Yamaha RBX 270, stock bridge. No, they're store brand nickel rounds. They were a couple months old, took them off for a couple months to try half rounds...

Why wont my E string intonate properly?

I'm new at setting my bass up. I've changed my strings from half rounds to roundwound. I've tried tightening and loosening the bridge, however the 12th fret E registers flat either way. Why is that and how can I fix it? Thanks.

Half rounds vs roundwound string tension

Could that possibly contribute to discomfort, switching tension/gauges, in the fingers?

Half rounds vs roundwound string tension

If you have a nickel roundwound and a half round string of the same gauge, which has more tension? Suppose it's the same brand, if that is important. Thank you.

What scale bass do you play and why? A Poll

I play 34 inch scale basses just because that's what I have available. In the future I want to go to 30 inch scale instruments because it'll be easier on the hands because I have a family history of arthritis

    My First Bass!

That bass looks like something I'd want to play, especially in that white finish. Hopefully you will review it at some point in the future. Welcome to playing bass and I wish you well. You will experience a lot of frustrating times but it's worth fighting onwards. Music is wonderful and the bass...

    Could this be counterproductive?

I would definitely suggest playing with that short scale bass if it feels more comfortable. Personally speaking, as much as I love the sound of a Precision Bass, I happen to think that the Gibson basses look cooler. One thing that I would suggest would be warming up before you play. Also...

OMG... Wife is going to disown me...Sandberg Content!

That's a really nice looking bass guitar you have there. It's just a shame that you're not allowed to spend your own money when you get hitched.

Anyone else feel like expensive basses are arbitrarily priced?

It's not you, E. I just can't believe the fiction people buy into so readily. But again, broken record right? It's just that it irks me when people spout wrong information like it's fact and people accept it or shrug and say 'it is valid because opinions'' etc. Not to you specifically E just...

Anyone else feel like expensive basses are arbitrarily priced?

Remember kids, controlled studies are bull**** pseudoscience. The scientific method is invalid, you heard it here. If you will excuse me, I need to go eat goat testicles to cure my cold, my shaman told me it's legit!

Anyone else feel like expensive basses are arbitrarily priced?

Hah, very good. My legitimate question isn't worth answering because it points out that this big concept of expensive tonewood is very likely just a ploy at marketing. That would make a boutique maker look bad because they emphasise the exoticness of the wood improving the quality of your...

Anyone else feel like expensive basses are arbitrarily priced?

Hi Jason, Serious question here, not intended to be snarky and rude. Does Fodera have actually valid data proving that an exotic wood such as, say bubinga, is better than a less expensive wood like agathis? I mean researched in a controlled manner, not just based on 'years of experience'...
