I pulled the grilles off of the new and older SL112's and the speakers look identical. I don't have the energy to pull out the speakers right now.

Congrats! I just ordered a copy.

I've used two GS112's for about ten years now and see no reason to change to anything else. They are a few pounds heavier than most newer cabs, but they'll punch as good as any high-end cabinet. Even though Aguilar still makes them, they are yesterday's news around here.
