    Dan Peek of "America"

Any thoughts on Dan Peek? I wasn't of that generation and can tell America wasn't as big a band as others of that era, but I just recently payed attention to "Horse With No Name" and was amazed.

    Gay Musicians

Hey I apologize for not reading the whole thread, so I'll probably repeat something already said - but here goes... I met my person when she lived in the Castro in San Francisco, and one of her friends was a guy who was REALLY frustrated about the gay scene there - he felt like he couldn't be...

    Rehearsal Space Money...at my place?

I'd say absolutely no - mainly from past experience with bandmates but even if they're very trustworthy it wouldn't be worth risking your and your person's living space. If you were single it would be another story but someone else is involved here ... just mho:)

    just got a offer.....but......

Hutzbordello - I think the term was hijacked years ago - those radio bands ARE emo now as far as the general populace is concerned. Fugazi was in the first wave, what would bands like Three Mile pilot and Sunny Day Real Estate be considered?

So what's the deal with Ric's???

Oh no not another rush vid! Just kidding - I think generalizing things might be good here - Rickenbackers have a very specific tone, you have to just play one in a band mix to know what it sounds like, and if you're into Geddy or Chris (or Cliff?) you just might like it!

Cumbia and Mexican polka - Underrated bass?

Growing up in San Diego - I think that they actually used TUBAS years back ... And I do remember a few "riddims" (if you can call them that) that were really really interesting (with an accordion but they didn't sound so much like polka :) ) ... you don't hear them too often on the radio...

I have an actual Fleabass in my hands and...

Knowing that Flea's intent (at least in the marketing) was to provide an affordable bass to kids that could only really afford somewhat "janky" basses, and that the basses seem to be more expensive and lower quality than other basses in this specific market - my first reaction isn't that he's...

    311...in a rut?

I've loved this band since discovering them at Grassroots but I agree, Evolver was a turning point that has confused the crap outta me. I realize they need to pay more attention to their financial intake at this point later in their careers ( notably starting with the single "last straw") but I...

    Dancehall synth tone

Blue box??! I thought he had pretty much just a big muff and nothing else - haven't really paid much attention to his gear and I thought it was just one of Nick's software synths, tho. The Blue Box sounds, well, very trashy and positively shatty on guitar, in a good way, from my experience...

    Dancehall synth tone

Nice - I wouldn't have thought that it could be a ring modulator. I've actually got a DOD "Gonkulator" packed away in a box somewhere so I'll try it out. :D Thanks!

    Dancehall synth tone

Ughhh - OK Youtube gives me the same url for both videos so until I figger this out here's the song names for examples of what I'm looking for: 311: All Mixed Up, start listening at 2:07 Half Pint: Substitute Lover I think the clip of the 311 outro/medley is the best example of the sound I'm...

    Dancehall synth tone

Hola, I just recently got to check out "Bannanas at Large" in the CA Bay Area and their awesome collection of boutique stompboxes and took note of all the bass synth and octave pedals that are out there. I was curious where exactly this kinda Dancehall Reggae tone comes from and if I could...

    Dimarzio Model P+J installation

I had trouble tracking a blend pot down locally so I got one used from a repair shop - so I think that could be the problem. I've checked out the wiring and I'm pretty sure it's right, but I used Seymour Duncan's PJ wiring schematic from their site and made the 4 conductor wiring "work" by...

    Dimarzio Model P+J installation

"Dump the Blend pot and go to Vol/Vol/Tone, or Select Switch/Vol/Tone. " Steveaux Grrrrr.... I was the guy that would always inadvertently hit the volume with my hand while playing (and slowly turn my volume all the way down :b , on a strat!) so I want to make the knobs as easy to control...

    Dimarzio Model P+J installation

Thanks Andk - Sorry I think I explained it badly - when I goto just the neck pickup solo, it sounds almost exactly the same as the bridge solo... it's as if the 2 pickups are bleeding into each other's signal when trying to get "just a P sound" or "just a J sound"
