Ever have a bass that you just LIKE to play???

I still have the first bass guitar I ever bought. An Ibanez AEB 45 LG. Its the acoustic thing on this bass that does it for me. It is impossible to piss off cops, neighbors, or family. When I am in the mood to create and dont want to fight the tv for concentration, I grab the hollow and go...

Help relax before and during gig

Im wondering if LIF is wondering about the venue and the view? First live gig......take your setlist and mark each song with your first key/note/or something to set yourself in motion. While playing, pick a point in space at the bar or whatever, so that you look like you are looking out...

RANT: I need a sign that says you cant use my gear

I made the mistake of loaning my axe to another bass player in a band we were sharing a show with many years ago. I had heard them play, and they were friends of a friend. The guy was pretty good, but he went from doctor jekyl to mister hyde during their set. I swear he was beating the crap...

    Song too long possibly???

Im wondering about the talent show...........are they short enough on talent to allow a ten minute bass solo? Most high school talent shows have to cram as many acts in as possible without putting parents into a health risk........LOL. Ive seen standing room only for some sad, sad, silly...

never let a guitar player decide if you are talented or not, especially if they have no rythm.........LOL

    Hand cramps

that sounds like too much attack. another thing you could do would be to invest in your own ear monitors. that way you could hear yourself without beating yourself to death.

    Song too long possibly???

ten minutes.............how many times does your composition repeat the phrase? Maybe that would be the key to shortening the piece to a reasonable time span. Also, are you regulating the rythm in a reasonable time signature? If its some exotic rythm that only you understand it may not...

what does the term "Pro Gear" mean to you?

also, line out to the PA can help or hurt, depending on the soundman. If the PA is decent and the soundman is decent, and the drummer is decent, and the lead and rythm are decent, and the singer is decent, life is good.

what does the term "Pro Gear" mean to you?

Its just my opinion, but if the bassist is good and can tweak his gear to bring that out, thats the ticket. Then again, good gear would serve the bassist even more so.
