Is anyone image conscious about their rig?

is rig seems pretty normal...
Am I image conscious about my rig - sure am 
at 7' 3" its all for show If I need volume it is there but its all for tone but tell that to a sound man when I stroll in with it or a new band I am with. Does not make me any better mind you but it certainly has intimidated a few people plus its a great conversation piece. I'm just a bass player, so look at my gear and don't look at me if you know what I mean.

Nobody can see my amp if my big azz is in front of it,so no,not image conscious.

I recently purchased a new MarkBass MoMark LMK....used it with my older cabs.
Love it....then I got to thinkin'....been playin' over 40 years. I deserve new speakers.(that match!) I got the MarkBass 104HR and the Traveler 151P. It sounds so sweet!
Fretless stereo Schector/Fender P/J, each tapped PU in its own channel...very happy with my amp selection........It looks nice too!

Yes and no. My Genz Shuttle 9.0/Schroeder 1210 mini rig will cover virtually every show I do, but when I get on bigger stages I bring my Alembic F1-X/QSC PLX/Bergantino HT322 rig. Why? Because I can...
That looks photo-shopped.

Does anyone else not use certain pieces of gear because of the image they put forth?
I'm primarily interested in whether a particular rig can deliver my sound, whether I'll have too little or too much rig for the room, how gear sounds in a particular venue, and what kind of schlep is involved in loading-in and loading-out. As far as appearance goes, the only appearance factor that I've ever had to worry about is on so-called society gigs where a road-worn rig would look totally out of place
Does anyone use sub-par gear because it puts forth a 'better' image than other pieces of gear?
Not that I'm aware of.
Does anyone really care about what gear the bassist uses besides other bassists?
Drummers usually comment most on the sound of a bass rig, and the sound man often cares as much about the sound a bass rig generates as the bassist, but the metrics are usually different. But, on the whole, nobody notices or cares unless it sounds or looks really good or really bad.
Is this sentiment a cross-genre thing, or only in certain genres?
I suspect image-conscious musicians are more fastidious about appearances than the average Joe, irrespective of the genre; and that certain personality types may be more likely to gravitate to certain generes than others: lots of interesting patterns on this Venn diagram.

I'm like JohnK, I like the old VOX look.
I'm going more for the VOX AC-100 look. GK 700-rb installed in the trapezoid head cab. One 15, two 10s, horn in the big cab (made it myself).

I am to a point. But Now I laugh, Shuttle 9.0 on an Uber210 gets the 500 watt message across. Also no one thinks I am too loud because it is smaller than the guitar amp... my little joke on the world

Got a Kustom 1200 310c (modified). Don't give a rip about brands; my rig can chew, swallow and poop you out anyday, then have dessert.
Image conscious? Me? Hah! Anything that works and I can afford...that'll do it for me...that said, I tend to hang onto gear for a very long time...and we become...well...like friends...
