Neck too thin, truss rod is breaking out !! :(

Actually, this does not work because we need more thickness behind the truss rod and the neck is already shaped. Doing this would leave a bump in the middle of the neck.

Neck too thin, truss rod is breaking out !! :(

Thanks to the suggestions, I managed to salvage the neck ! Here is what I did : glue back the piece that broke glue another piece of wood on top I tried to carve the neck again from here but could not get a good profile make some wood past with saw dust and wood glue to fill the sides of the...

Neck too thin, truss rod is breaking out !! :(

I don't see how a brass nut would help here. A brass nut is the part that places the strings on the fingerboard for me, but it can also be, well, a brass nut, the friend of a bolt, which kind of make sens, but I don't see how I should put one of those on the truss rod at this point.

Neck too thin, truss rod is breaking out !! :(

@Gilmourisgod There was 1/16". I removed the piece of wood and measured its thickness with a caliper. And this is roaster maple that appear weaker than the regular maple. I will try to glue it back, and we will see. As @Jeff Siddall said, I have nothing to lose at this point.

Neck too thin, truss rod is breaking out !! :(

So, I was a little too much concentrated on the shape of the neck and ended up with not enough wood below the truss rod. Wood started to crack as soon as I turn the rod... Guess I will have to do a new neck now...

    New creation : Scrap Bass

Hi there, I just wanted to show off my new creation, a bass made from old floor wood I found in the basement of my house, from the original owner. I started this project for practice so, no picture were taken during the build. Body and neck are made with 50 years old hard floor wood (maple or...

    Devon with Sadowsky Preamps

Neck dive was the first thing I noticed, he is moving the bass around and does not seem comfortable playing it. Nice bass with nice sound though !

    Traynor YRM-1

I ended up buying it, and it has a lot of low. I would say that the head is powerfull enough for rehearsal if your drummer is not too loud . It is a very simple head with two power tubes and one preamp tube, no fan. The transformer is noisy!!? Maybe because the ground was cut on the plug...
