So, I was a little too much concentrated on the shape of the neck and ended up with not enough wood below the truss rod. Wood started to crack as soon as I turn the rod... Guess I will have to do a new neck now...

IME, a brass nut can help your repair last forever.
Roasted maple ... people swear by that stuff but, it's not really wood anymore after it's roasted.
Roasted, they are much more stable. But, they are brittle and weak. You have to allow for that in the design.
Depending on how much you want to save it...
You have a few options...
1. Lay up some carbon fiber or fibre glass over the neck.
