Peavey MAX 150 - Any Opinions?

Looking at buying a used Peavey MAX 150. Can anyone comment firsthand on their experiences with this amp? The one I’m considering appears brand new and the current owner is a six string player so the MAX has had little use. Also, which model Peavey foot switch comes with the MAX 150? This one is...

    Which pickguard?

Fender Jazz - maple fretboard; two-tone sunburst body. Need ideas on the best looking pickguard for this combination - except white or white pearl. Any favorites that look great?

    Guitar Shops in Eastern Michigan?

It's an hour west of Ann Arbor, but Elderly's Music in Lansing is among the best shops in the country.

    Whats the difference of woods?

Maple, alder, basswood, concrete, steel...to each his own - for whatever reasons. The thing we should be celebrating here is - we have a choice.

is Big Al replacing the Bongo?

Love the shape of the body, but I still can't get past the three tuners on one side with the lone wolf sticking out of the bottom side of the headstock. Give me something more symmetrical. Been a MM hangup for a long time. And while I'm at it, the MusicMan logo is among the worst ever. They...

    I believe that's the genuine article...a 1966 Fender Precision!

    Pray for me!!

Congrats on the not smoking. My Dad did three packs a day for 50 years and the COPD is a fate worse than death. As for the 'Ray...it's yours if it's meant to be.

    Peavey Fury question

I'm looking at a USA made, early 90s Peavey Fury - their P-Bass clone and wondered if anyone might comment on their experience with this guitar. It appears to be in great shape. Just wondering if there's anything to be wary of with this model.

    Best oil for rosewood boards?

Nope. Lemons are for iced tea. I said bore oil. Like the stuff used to clean and preserve woodwind instruments - made from, oh I dunno...rosewood, among others.

Who was the most famous cat you played with

Didn't get to play with him, but about 10 years ago at Mardi Gras in New Orleans, we were at a table in a crowded bar with an extra seat when a tall dude with longish hair in a long, dark coat came over and politely asked in a decidedly British accent if he could sit with us and wait for the...

    Best oil for rosewood boards?

I just restrung my Jazz and decided to freshen up the fretboard a bit with a light coating of bore oil that I used to use on my Strats. I applied it sparingly, then rubbed it in by hand until it was fully absorbed, wiped off any excess with a clean paper towel and fitted the new strings. I...

    Highway One vs. American Standard

It's always been my understanding that the Highway One is the American Standard but with a lower cost finish that doesn't require the labor intensive high gloss polishing of the Standards. Spec-wise, I think they're the same.

    Flats or tapes?

I just took a set of tapes off my Jazz and replaced them with Fender 9050 stainless flats. I like the flats much better!
