I had the same problem with the E string when I put Chromes on my Ric. Couldn't see any way to crimp or reduce the size of the flats. I went to the hardware store and bought an awl - a long metal hand tool made for enlarging holes. Two full turns in the hole and the string fit perfectly. Good...
