Dang, I'm not sure I should follow that pic, Jaymi.... my collection isn't nearly as impressive. But here you go: the first time the whole family's been photographed.

Geez, a lot of nice basses in this thread, but the old Guilds and Hagstrom just do something for me. Is that Guild the M-85?

Yep. A buddy of mine was going to sell it, but my wife thought is was pretty so he gave it to her. I just used it on a Rolling Stones project. It was the only thing that had that big, woody, non-Fender sound. The thing's got a neck like a pencil... SO easy to play.

The Hagstrom was my first bass. My stepmother found it at a yard sale. When I was in high school I got it into my head that I needed to make it fretless, so a buddy of mine and I dug the frets out with a Swiss Army knife. Now it sounds almost like an electric upright and has this kind-of legendary status among my old high school friends.

Mmmm what's the fretboard wood on that top one, Birdseye or Quilt? It's a beauty.

It's just a one piece maple, '57 style, 1.75" at the nut.
It is not birdseye, it is just flamed out.

First post! Nice site...learned a lot already.
My first and only bass. Bought it 15 years ago (played trumpet then not bass). Now I play it every day. It turns 30 this month!

How are those Clement fretless basses? Did you order yours?

All were made to order from the woods to the electronics. Each has it's own fit, feel, tone and dynamics. Great neck geometry and overall balance.
