My mom is a toddler/intro music teacher so she got me started young. I was a guinea pig for the Karr books, started lesson at 4 on a 1/10th size bass.. I know Inez Wyrick does a ton for young bassists too, check her stuff out if you're looking for materials.

The myrtle top was chosen specifically for the design, I just thought the grain looked beautiful and the top wood doesn't have much effect on the sound. The rest of the woods were chosen with sound in mind. I warn you though..you can fall down a rabbit hole researching tone woods. I was looking...

I did. I work a lot in theatre and low light and am much more comfortable feeling my way around in-line. The proximity to the pickup doesn’t bother me one bit, less distance to fuss with things ;)
