    Solid Stave VS Tube Amps

When I first blew the head due to a tensile wire falling off the speaker the tech seen something funny with the tubes and we replaced all of them. Then when it blew again because I plugged the amp back into the same cab we realized the tensile wire came off. So 333$ later from all new tubes...

    Solid Stave VS Tube Amps

I'd like to hang on to the Mesa while in the meantime get a 2-300$ solid state amp. I ran into an Ampeg B 40 for 349$ What do you's recommend for getting that 60s & 70s solid state sound for around that price? I'm just seeing what kind of options I have to go with. Thanks all, your post have...

    Solid Stave VS Tube Amps

I'm not a sound pro or amp pro. I do understand you get more mid range on a 10" than a 15" speaker. I'm trying to find out more info on the 10" Celestion BG 10 80 like frequency range. The 15" i use with the Boogie is an Eminence Kappa Pro is 46-4000Hz which I recently swapped out from a EV...

    Solid Stave VS Tube Amps

I've also played a Sunn Beta Bass through the same cab and there is a difference in tone, is that what you are talking about?

    Solid Stave VS Tube Amps

I'll have to tear into the sidekick amp and see what speaker I replaced the original with.. been a long while. Which actually brings up the idea of possibly using one of my spare 15" EV speakers for testing. Hmm. Got an EV 15L

    Solid Stave VS Tube Amps

Do all solid state amps have that "solid state" sound they are known for vs the sound from Tube amps? I've been playin/practicing on a Sidekick 70w Fender, then I go to band rehearsal with my Boogie 400w + and I am finding I am liking the solid state sound more and more. Can I buy any old...

    Speaker Question

If you are using a tube amp be very careful how long you play on that cab before putting in replacements. A coil burn-out can cause a tube amp to blow up along with the failed speaker.

Best brand amps for reliability / dependability?

The only problem I've ever had with my 80's Mesa Boogie 400w + was the speaker tensile wire going/falling off causing a blow back to the amp, then the fuse blowing. If I were playing out a solid state head, this wouldn't of happened because a tensile wire failing and disconnecting from the...

    EV 15BX or 15B or 15L

I understand. I think it begins with the frequency range. While the EV 15L cab could wreck the front row, there is an absolute difference between them and the 15BX It sorta puts that new 5 string bass tone into the sound.

    EV 15BX or 15B or 15L

With the 400+ i get a lot of bright sound from the tubes. I'd rather have alot of low ends to counter balance that. So i guess my answer is yes, but I am just curios if I am getting original manufacturing parts?

    EV 15BX or 15B or 15L

So with all these EV speakers I have, is it worth having the ones I need repaired with all original EV parts?

    EV 15BX or 15B or 15L

Ok, yeah. Now I understand :) I heard that before when we were recording. Very cool. So can both the BX and DL 15" speakers are discontinued? What do they make now in place of those? And can the speakers be bought individually?

    EV 15BX or 15B or 15L

    I don't understand "45 degree response" ???

    EV 15BX or 15B or 15L

I've seen some DL15X EVs on eBay and the description says 45Hz - 3000Hz? correct me if I am wrong.

    EV 15" BX

Thanks. I will try that. The speaker that I pulled with the broken tinsel wire did make that scraping sound which was explained to me by the speaker tech that the coil was burnt out. Now that you bring up hardware being loose. When I was installing the BX into the cab, there was a slight...
