Double Bass Cleaning an NS EUB

Not sure which cleaning kit you are using. I'm sure it will be fine. I always make sure to have a few clean micro fiber towels around when doing mine.

Essex Bass Club - Part 11

I have changed out the bridges on all 4 of my sx's(2 j style four string, 1 j style 5 string and 1 ursa 4)with the economy bridge from Bass Parts Resource. The 4 string bridge is a direct replacement. The 5 string needed to be plugged and drilled. Mainly it is one of the mods I do out of the box...

    B string intonation issues...

I've had to do this in the past and it worked like a charm. Push down on the B string on both sides of the saddle. This will help more of the string contact the saddle and solve your problem.

Essex Bass Club - Part 11

You may want to try and put it on the old bathroom scale. A 57(alder) should come in around 9 lbs. A 75(ash) should come in around 10 lbs.

Essex Bass Club - Part 11

I have to agree with this. I look at it the same way as auto makers. They are forever changing body styles and interiors but in my case I like to stick to the same manufacturer because I trust the product. My most recent SX purchase is an URSA 4 RN 3TS. Funny thing is while you are playing the...

Is it possible to do this and has any one tried?

I just did this to an SX jazz bass and it went alot smoother than I was expecting. The nut did have to be cut to fit the new strings gauge...65-85-105-125. Also had to tweek the saddles for intonation, but only a little. My only concern is if you decide to go back to E-A-D-G you may need to...

    Essex bass club part 10

I had the same issue with my Ursa 4. While I was leveling a few frets I took the tuners out and spayed a silicone lubricant into them. This has helped with the grinding feel of the tuners. Hope this helps.

Can you go wrong spending $120 on a bass?

Given Rondo's return policy, I can't see how you would go wrong buying one. Remember, you are not buying a $120 Fender. They are two diferent animals. I say go for it and be ready to tweek it to your liking. You just might end up back for a second one. Good luck!

    Kept Your First Bass

Still have mine. It's a 69ish Dan Armstrong. Bought it back in the early 80"s from the bass player of a Long Island group called the Bloodless Pharoes. I had to make a patch for the input jack and put on a brass nut and a homemade brass bridge. Those were the days. Oh, a few years ago I found an...
