Neck de-laminating - any way to fix??

Just for the general community information, Victoria ash and Tasmanian oak ( the woods the neck in question was made of) are commercial names for Eucalyptus wood. Not whatsoever related to Quercus or Fraxinus. Victoria and Tasmania refer to the region where the tree was cut and do not designate...

    Bill Wyman's gear

Undigging this 20 year old thread: 2 contributions to Bill's gear history: 1) An official Wyman signature bass is sold by Bass Centre in UK, still available in 2023. That bass is said to be the exact copy of the bass Bill used in the 70s and was designed according to the specs indicated by Wyman...

Should I send it back? Opinions, please!

Some [wrong] reasons to accept blemishes on new instruments: -accepting flaws is a philosophical experience:bookworm:, -allows to ask the shop for a di$counto_O, -facilitates ID if stolen :wacky:, -gives instruments their character :chicken:, -can be seen as a cool relic finish, :help: -won't...

Should I trade an American standard p bass for a 1983 Squier p bass?

Consider this : A recent Fender bass is easy to find. A 1983 JV Squier, that you can try, is not an easy find (and prices tend to go up as they are sought after (for good OR bad reasons, I dont know). You like the Squier, make the trade, only you can tell afterwards whether it was a good...

Short Scale Journey Didn't Last Long

I've played Music Man sabre bass since ever and only late I began to play Fenders. In the whole the MM Sabre is much more compact, and IMO Music Man can be considered shortscale-ish thanks to Leo Fender improvements: - fender's full string length AND you get 21 frets (4 spots after the 12th...

    NAD!!! Yamaha JX50B

I bought mine in 2018 because my first amp was (still have it) a JX30 for guitar. And I was looking for a bass combo for small venue, with a vintage look. I read the JX series was designed to emulate Blackface amp and the Jazz Chorus, more for Jazz guys. (The "G" series being more for rock?)...

My Producer Say I Need Hollow Body Bass

Your question has 2 questions in it : - Are you ok with the producer telling you what kind of bass you should use, and how bad do you want to please him? - What is bass you like? (sound, ergonomics, looks). IMO Most HB I know tend to be quite poppy at high volume. As does The Jack Cassidy as...

    Gibson SG Slotted headstock- Why?

Thanks Interspace Station I am not sure slotheads are cheaper to produce, they imply 2 operations : for the 2 slots and then drilling for the machine head. And mine has the inlay logo. But no paint job I give you that.

    Gibson SG Slotted headstock- Why?

Thank you ajkula66 for your insight. I also find it counter intuitive, but how knows. The fewer breakage of slotted head could also be due to the lesser production, that is quite difficult to quantify, don't you think? Your source is surely right if you say so, but it would be interresting to...
