Silk colors

They're 45-105. I bought 3 sets, using one, the others are still un-opened:

They look just like the old double-red-silk set I have, except for black silk instead of red at the bridge, and the colored balls instead of brass

Yes, that one's from an old, nicely worn-in set that came on a bass I bought several years ago.

I have no idea, probably marketing gibberish.

I used them quite a bit in the 90s before they were discontinued (see my avatar) and I thought they weren't bad. They have been replaced by the Nexus, which I find better.

I use D'Addario's who don't put silk on their strings. I always hated it anyways because when I'd pull the old strings through the bridge holes the silk would shave off and get everywhere. Minor inconvenience sure and yeah, I could just cut the strings after the silk to pull though...but that's not the point ;)

I just installed my first set of Rotosound Flat 77's 45-105, I expected them to have red silk at both ends, but it just has red silk at the tuner end and no silk at all at the ball end. Color coded ballends....
The SS66 set that I tried a few months back were most likely bought at the same time as the Jazz 77's and had red silk at both ends.....
I decided to put these strings after looking at close-up pics of Paul Simonon's smashed bass, seems like flatwound strings with red silk at both ends...

Rotosound stopped putting silk at the ball end on the Jazz 77 Flats when they switched to color-coded ball ends. Some Jazz 77 Flats came with red silk at the tuner end and black silk at the ball end in the past.

GOLD - Is anyone familiar with roundwounds that have a dark gold silk? I"m not talking about a greenish-gold or a really yellow gold (like on the DR flats), but a dark, rich gold that almost looks "Aztec Gold" to me - to compare to a Fender custom color that most would be familiar with.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It would always help to have a couple of pics for subtle visual clues beside the color of the silk - one at the headstock and one at the bridge, including the ball ends if possible.

Are we talking about a "long scale" set? What's the actual length of those strings from the ball end to the start of the silk?
