    I put baby oil on left hand, my flatwound strings, and the back of the bass neck for humid day or outdoor shows.

    I play roots mostly. I Skip most fills. Bass is not meant to be exciting. Love it but nope. Nobody has ever complained or asked for more. A nice thumpy room filling tone is more important to me. Keeps people dancing.

    I had a black aftermarket pickguard completely destoyed after 20-30 minutes in direct summer afternoon sunlight once. It was sitting on a stand before the show. Got all curvy, and never straightened out.
