It’s really personal preference. If it works for you, plays good for you, and you like it, stick with it! I am on a budget as well. I use zzounds.com a lot to get the gear I have. They have payment plans.

I also figured out a way to get the cabinet up off the floor a little to be able to hear it better maybe. About 1 foot higher now. I had an old peavey combo amp sitting around, blown head and speaker. Removed the electronics, and it sits great under my bass cabinet now. Gonna give it a try.

It is a 4 ohm cabinet. We were outside to though, so maybe that was an issuue, plus I'm 6.3, and had to play directly in front of my cab, so I'll give it a try again inside and see how that goes. Thanks for the reply!
