MXR fuzz deluxe vs Big Muff bass deluxe

I went to my local Sam Ash looking for a fuzz, and the Big Muff Deluxe and MXR Bass Fuzz were the only two in stock, so I compared them and ended up getting the Big Muff Deluxe. I pretty much noticed the same things everyone else has posted about. The Big Muff Deluxe has a lot more options and...

What do you need to gig?

When playing out with my band, I could get away with only bringing my Ibanez bass and my Eden half-stack (along with a cable, tuner, strap, etc). However, every time I go out to play/ jam/ record/ whatever, I always bring a backpack with me with extra things I might need. The backpack is...

Tube/SS hybrid preamp - OK for headphone use?

Another question about this preamp. According to the manual, I must have it in Stereo mode, or Bi-Amp mode. First, I assume when using stereo headphones, I would use the stereo option, correct? Second, shouldn't there be a Bridged Mono setting for use with a single cabinet? Or, would the...

Need special power amp for bass rig?

Today I picked up my Eden WP-100 preamplifier and my 410XST that I had specially ordered for me. I had intended on getting a QSC RMX 1450, since it could put out 800 watts in bridged mono into my 410 cab rated at 1,000w RMS. I didn't see one out, so I asked the salesman, and he started...

Tube/SS hybrid preamp - OK for headphone use?

Hey everyone. Just picked up an Eden WP-100 along with a 410XST today. I'll be purchasing a power amplifier tomorrow or sometime later this week to complete my rig, but in the meantime, I just can't wait to hear this preamp with my bass. I wanted to know if using headphones with just my...

Preamp + Power amplifier vs. Standalone Amplifier

Hey everyone, I couldn't find info on this topic in the forum already, so here it is. I've been wanting to step up and get a good rig for awhile now, and I'm pretty much set on the Eden WP100 Navigator Pre-amp, running into an Eden D410XST. Of course, I'll need to get a power amp for this...

Screw threads on replacement tuning machine won't catch

While playing my bass, I noticed my D-string was flat, so I kept twisting the tuning knob little by little, but heard no difference in pitch. Eventually the post the string wraps around snapped off from the rest of the mechanism. One of the following days I went to my local shop and bought a...

For you Death Metal bands looking for a singer

Funny video, here's one with a cat. I was cracking up the first time I saw this one.

    right and left hand independence

When it comes to coordination between hands for tapping, the only way I can really imagine improving your skill at it is to do it often. Maybe start out with less complex things, or playing a bit slower at first as well. Hopefully that helps out. Brian

    A little venting

Like they've both said, just keep at it. The more you practice playing with other musicians, the more you will improve. After you've played with drummers a lot (or if you're playing with a drummer you're used to playing with, for example), fitting a part to a beat will come a lot more naturally...

    Practicing for 6 hours?

Practicing that many hours a day can be really rewarding and great for improving/ focusing your playing. There's a lot of different things you can work on. I didn't start practicing that much each day until I was about 6 months in though. Back when I had the freedom to play 6 hours a day...

    Did I ruin my string?

Not sure if this is correct; I havn't experimented with string gauges too much, so someone correct me if I'm wrong. But... To me, when strings are too loose and rattle too much, it seems like it would make sense to increase string gauge. If you have a large gauge string and a smaller gauge...

    A question about perceived loudness.

Thanks for all of the responses, it'll be helpful knowing this when I decide to upgrade to something other than a combo soon.

    String spacing

I have played my Ibanez SR506 6-string for a bit over 3 years now, and I love the string spacing (I believe it is 16.5mm, but I'm not positive). I play progressive metal as well, and I really enjoy tighter string spacing, but maybe that's just a preference that I've developed. To get a feel for...
