    Is Sting Overrated

Try watch the recorded reunion show at the Tokyo dome and deny that he's anything less than fantastic. His bass playing is understated and tasteful. With copeland rattling around his kit like a madman, sting doesn't have to bother being needlessly flash. It's all about the songs. He's a really...

Kings of Leon fans? (Jared Followill)

Jareds an excellent bass player! I really like his stuff, very innovative and a big part of KOL's sound. He plays really cool, solid root stuff like Sex On Fire, Razz, Charmer and Molly's Chambers, as well as busy, off the wall stuff like My Party, Slow Night So Long, Crawl, Camaro and The...

    Mccartney's best bass work

Taxman from Revolver - the licks in the 3rd verse are crazy Daytripper - playing it up the octave throughout and singing over the top is quite a challenge (not for macca ofcourse) Chorus' are crazy I saw her standing there is another punisher to play. Great driving line.

Aerosmith- Lord of the Thighs, please?

chug away at the C, main verse descending progression is C, Bb, Ab, G and then land heavily on the F. Of course there is a few cool chromatic leads and runs during this section. The chorus part is Ab, G and then C. Hold the C. Only change from this is the bridge part, played in the same rhythm...

Tom Hamilton: Give him the recognition he deserves

such a great bassist, shines throughout Aerosmith's career. IMO a big part of that band's sound! In the early day's, solid as a rock but full of swing and interesting basslines/heavy finger tone. Stuff like Toys in the Attic, Rats In The Cellar, Back In The Saddle, Sweet Emotion, Walk This...

    All my bands...

i'm in a band, we're all 16, our drummer is the only pot smoker. it's all he talks about and he's hanging out with some dozey, far from reputable/interesting characters. he's practised whilst high, and he's S**T, and he's hardly Neil Peart anyway. When he planned to skin up before a gig we'd...

    Duff Mckagan? Any opinions?

I don't think Duff has to particularly worry about carrying your gear to a gig any time soon.... :) The fact is he's inspired a lot of people with his simple but memorable bass lines and was an integral part of one of histories biggest Rn'R bands. He . He's also got a university degree in...

    Why all the Duff bashing?

duff is IMHO a very good bass player. He's great in the way his lines are very cool, catchy and simple. He can be solid (It's So Easy), he can be funky (Rocket Queen, Locomotive) he can be creative (Pretty Tied Up, Sweet Child O' Mine) and he could (back in the day) do all this with a fair...

    The "real" punk bass....

thanks D.M.N, you guys are fantastic. Slip Away is great. Really Zeppelin. Love the dirty harmonica! and perfektspace6, i couldn't agree more, but being a group of impatient 16 year olds, with very little money, and each in our final year of compulsory education and in the middle of GCSE...
