for that price get a fujigen dark jazz and a darkglass pedal. Although I haven't tried the fujigen it seems like it was built for that darkglass kinda sound.

Look at lawsuit era Japanese basses. I own a Yamaha pulser bass 600 that I would take over any American fender p I have tried. I have not tried other brands like fernandes, greco and aria but I am sure they made good stuff too. That gets you a good actually vintage bass for mexican p money.

Yeah that is very true for most genres but if you want to play jazz of any sort you're going to end up needing to know your chords pretty good.

Start off with bossa nova as it is very easy just play the root and fifth in the right rhythm. this guy explains it pretty well.

Thanks for the advice, I do listen to fusion and jazz nonstop and Tetsuo sakurai is my personal favorite as well.
