Hi everyone, Im looking to just get done with playing cheap gear and get a nice 5 string to keep for as long as it still works. I want a nice thick sounding bass, not something too sizzly and bright. I play every style of music you can think of, from pop covers to death metal to straight ahead jazz. In terms of neck profiles I really like the neck on my yamaha pb600. I would like to stay under 2000 Canadian but if I have to go a bit over I will. Im just not sure what to buy so I figured I would post this to see if anyone has any good ideas. Thanks, everyone.

Could check out an MTD Kingston Super 5 with Bartolini/hipshot upgrades. Lots of tone options via the pickup switches and the Barts will have a warmer tone for sure.

I have also vowed to be done with *cheap* gear - too much to upgrade and in the end you still have cheap stuff with money dumped into it…
I’ve had my L2500 for 25 years by now, and it is still awesome to this day.
