Tell me you're old without telling me you're old

My first band we used a pair of Peavey 410 PA column speaker cabs. I used 2ea Fender Bassman 50s (for bass) that I bought at a pawn shop for $100.00 each (untested).

    Guitar Center Gloom

Because my grandfather played guitar my mother sent me to guitar lessons at the age of five. Being the stubborn brat that I am, I just flat out refused to learn squat. After 6 weeks they admitted defeat and I was free. At the age of 13 I discovered bass guitar and have been playing ever since...

    So...what exactly is a Fender/Squier Bass VI?

One landed in my lap in the 70s and I played it for awhile. Strings too twangy, too close together, wasn't impressed; not a bass as I define one. It was a loaner from a collector so I just gave it back. He probably sold it for a tidy sum in the meantime.

    Weight vs. Tone

I rarely play my Longhorn Jazz primarily because of the weight to tone ratio. It's like holding a pallet of bricks after while. Now, I do play my Jaguar bass LOTS. Less weight (not by much) and wonderful tone. Of course, my EB0 is as light as a feather and has great tone too (I think I just...

How "catty" is your local scene?

Not sure what you expect. Nothing like a bar table of musicians watching a band. I'll rank it up there with a shoot-em-up video game. You can imagine their leadership abilities. Just ignore it.

Vibration sound in amp and objects on low notes. Help

Don't forget to check the screws holding your speakers in place. Over time they can sometimes come loose, with those screw threads actually eating a nice little cave-space in your wonderful cabinet. The result is vibration at low notes.

Anyone have a Low End bass?

I don't see the weight of the basses listed. Looks like it could be 20% more than my heavy jazz though.

Thoughts on this venue's conditions for a gig?

...well, they didn't provide enough information to make an accounting-based decision. %s here & unknown sponsors there. WTpoop. There several other issues left totally in the dark. Half-baked management. Was it even a written contract?

Review for the Fender Modern Player Jaguar Bass

...I still have mine. Just got it back from the shop for a set-up and they loved it too. Fact is, I prefer it hands down to my USA Jazz. It's my go-to machine.
