to me, anything that I own and has parts that are not available gets gutted. I will NEVER pay $100 for a potmeter, no matter if it was Jimi's, made of unobtanium or whatever. Using idiot repairs as excuse: unacceptable. Stay away from brands using exotic parts, period.

KB12 is a great amp, I've got one in europe and in the us. The EU one has a new jack input, the US one started to crackle, first I thought it was the speaker so I installed an 8 ohm Eminence basslite s2012 but it didn't stop the crackling. Now with the original 6 ohm Hartke alumium cone speaker...

After seeing the prices of replacement pots, I simply removed all controls. Just 3 holes in my Thumb body :-) Connecting the MEC to the jack output, without pots or batteries, works just fine. I use my amp for tone and volume. Minimizing any filter in my sound.

what i miss in music notation, is the exact feel, intonation, how certain notes really sing. That could be studied just like Steve Vai created notation for whammy bar playing in the eighties.

To me this does not sound good. I have seen bass players continue their errors, lines with completely wrong chords, while the rest of the band does not get one chance to put the derailed train back on the track. Once you start listening to what is going on, you can discover the chord structure...
