Seems like most instruments have "the song"...so what is it for the bass?

Ha, I had to laugh at your choice of EVH for guitarist. Like anyone can play like Eddie. For me, it's What Is And What Should Never Be, the might Zep led by JPJ Led Zeppelin - What Is and What Should Never Be (Live at The Royal Albert Hall 1970) - YouTube

How bad (or good) was your first bass?

Mine was an Airline bass, which was made by a co. called Valco and was distributed by Montgomery Wards. Yes, the now defunk dept. store. Can't remember if it was any good, one b/c it was 50 yrs ago, and two, I wasn't good. I got rid of it and got an Gibson EB-2 which I also got rid of and is now...

    Best Female Singing Voice

I believe that is a subjective question and that we can only state our faves. For me, that would be Ann Wilson and Nicole Nordeman

Are your cab and amp the same brand?

Ah, beware the Lefty! lol That's a sweet setup. What make bass is that fretless?

Does a bass being a lightweight indicate a negative?

Personally, I believe weight doesn't have much to do with tone. I have a few that range from a svelte 7.9lb SRH 505 fretless to a shoulder-bending 1972 Jazz and I believe the tone in each is more effected by the strings, controls, and playing style.

What was your first bass amp and how bad was it?

Good stuff, folks! Mine was around 1966 Montgomery Wards (think Sear competitor) with a "matching" amp. They sucked but so did I, so I guess it didn't really matter. Pretty sure my parents got both for around $50.

Is Deep Purple in the same league with Led Zeppelin?

I like them both, but when you "individualize them out", to me at least, Zep's cast is superior at each instrument and vocally. JPJ "taught" me more about playing melodically than any other player has.
