First Things You Do When You Score A Used Bass

I typically would do a once over on it, tighten up any loose screws, check the wiring out, sight the neck, check the truss nut. Make sure all the controls work as mentioned. Depending on the care that was previously taken, I might clean the fretboard, body, and bridge(sometimes they can get kind...

Quick question concerning MIM Fender bridges

Slotting a bridge, you would use a file, determine string spacing, and (preferably)with a V shaped file, make a small groove in which the string will sit. Doesn't have to be much, because once the string is at pitch, it will hold in that groove

    Tapered B?

Ken Smith and Fodera both offer tapered B's, 130 is the smallest they go I believe. I'd suggest basstringsonline due to it being a TB member's website, good pricing(TB Discount) and huge selection. Impeccable customer service as well.

dead bass. Is it the wood?

The nut only effects open strings, and very very slightly at that. I'm sure the nut is fine.

    Question for the masses

Thats what I assumed when I read it as well. If you keep tightening the truss rod, it's going to keep bowing more and more. What you'll need to do now is remove the truss nut, and apply some back bow to the neck in hopes of relieving some of that pressure. I would think at this point, you...

While replacing my bass strings, the nut fell off.

I typically put a dab on either side on the nut, just a small dab, of super glue. An hour is way overkill for superglue set time. Maybe wood glue or elmers white glue.. super glue will set up in a matter of seconds or minutes depending on the atmosphere. Taking all the strings off at the same...

    Query about strap lock problem

Stuff a few toothpicks in the hole, as many as you can fit. cut them off flush, then screw the strap button back on. Make sure not to over tighten it as it will strip just as it is now.

    Budget Radiused Sanding Blocks?

I took a long 1x3 piece of pine with some paper taped to it, and held it at a 30 or 45 degree angle to the board. That allowed me to work side to side and create a radius. Definitely not a true radius, but by my eye, it looks fine, and plays well. As stated before, end to end straightness of the...

    Worst bass "lip-synch" solo ever?

Definitely not a P though!:hiding: Haha, the tone sounds the same in both videos to me too, it has that hollow body sound to it in my opinion.

    Worst bass "lip-synch" solo ever?

Ever consider the guitarist has flatwound strings on his LP? Definitely looks like he's playing whats being heard

Hofner – Chris Wood Amazing Sound

+1, but only partially. The hollowbody has a lot to do with the boominess of the sound for sure. But I'm sure if it were medeski martin and me playing, it'd be a different story all together!:hiding::bassist:

I have someone on here that apparently had a decent stockpile, so I've stockpiled quite a bit of them myself, haha. Great picks, enjoy, whoever bought them!

    cheap bridges?

That, but the 5 string version looks exactly the same as the one stock on my schecter. Definitely a solid bridge.
