SGD pickups : David Schwab's issues with taking money and not delivering

You guys are relentless, GL! He hardly ever shows on the MEF Pickup forum, these days. His stuff shows up on Reverb now and then. It seems, His life must be semi underground. T

SGD pickups : David Schwab's issues with taking money and not delivering

The pickup link is what I was mainly referring to at the top of the CIG site. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] It looks like the same stuff he used to sell. He appears to be back in full pickup bizz!

SGD pickups : David Schwab's issues with taking money and not delivering

I make my wahl type multi-coils, where they fit in a MM cover. For the one in the picture, (It looks great BTW), why not take some plastic, black forbon, or pickguard material? Cut and drill a top rectangle piece, and attach to the top of the coils.(I use a drill press, and a unibit) I wouldn't...

SGD pickups : David Schwab's issues with taking money and not delivering

I would like to comment on the consistency of hand wound pickup coils. This was talked about a little earlier in this thread. If you wind a lot, and run the winder at a consistent medium speed, use similar hand tension, very good consistent coils can be made. If you wind say, 10 coils all with...

SGD pickups : David Schwab's issues with taking money and not delivering

This thread is a double edged sword. I have no opinion, and no skin in the game, either way. This thread protects other buyers, but it also made it where David can't recover. By him not being able to recover, it also keeps him from filling orders here. T

SGD pickups : David Schwab's issues with taking money and not delivering

I've seen David on the MEF Pickup forum lately. He is still a Moderator there for at least 4 of the sub-forums. I came here to see if he has fixed any of his screw ups? Apparently not! Terry

SGD pickups : David Schwab's issues with taking money and not delivering

He could have lived off the day job money, and used the pickup proceeds to buy parts and build pickups. When you live off the pickup money, you run out of money and have no money to buy parts. That is what he did. I am retired, and have money coming in to live on. When I make and build pickups...

SGD pickups : David Schwab's issues with taking money and not delivering

He is still the main moderator of 4 categories on the MEF. He hasn't been on the forum this year! I doubt that anyone will ever get a pickup from him! He should have gotten a day job years ago. T

    Cream P bass pickup cover?

I have used some of the after market P- Covers, on some of my custom pickups. The cover is the same size but the mounting ears are much larger, and won't work on a stock pickguard without filing. I have also used the Fusion Dover White to paint bobbins and covers. If you sand the covers before...

Questions about chrome T-Bird covers and generic soapbars

I'm not saying what you should do, I was just saying what I would do. I'm not big on the idea, of a pickup and cover, in another cover. If you haven't tried the pickups? I would try them as is before I tried to fit them in another cover. Like BlueTalon said have fun with it. And, do what you...

Questions about chrome T-Bird covers and generic soapbars

I agree with Toptube, on the space and distance between the poles, or magnets, and the top of the cover. When building pickups, I try to keep the poles, blades or magnets used as poles, right up against the cover. This allows for lower pickup mounting. With the expense of the fine...
