I have a BX 500, driving an Avatar TB153, and it seems sufficient....and never goes up over 5. Plenty of power, and I have had it for about 2 years with no issues. It's only been gigged about 10 times in that period, though. However, I have read a few reviews, and I do worry from time to time...

Awesome! Great to hear that! I hemmed and hawed on the BX500 versus the BX250, but I thought for $79 more, why not go with the amp with more juice. Will give a bit more room to grow, although both would be plenty powerful for what I'm doing. Hopefully my amp will get here about the same...

Just bit the bullet....Performance and Dollar ratio, along with several recommendations led me to the Carvin MX500. We'll see how it goes!! Thanks again for all your help and input!

Thanks for the info, guys! The more I think about it, I might even get the BX500 as a main and the GK MB200 as a backup. I don't know... At least that way I can check out both their sounds. I like the GK's simplicity - it only has a few dials, etc. I have read where a lot of people just run...

haha, no worries...I ramble enough as it is. I think next time I'm in Columbia, I will check - I know there are a couple Peavey basses on the wall. Have been for a while - better price! I have always been a Peavey (amp) fan,since I bought my first TNT back in 1984!

Thank you! I was thinking that the 500W amps (4 ohm), that yield about 300W (8 Ohm) would be plenty for me for a long time. Right now I am playing with 35 watts, so anything will be an improvement. Having too much is much better than too little amp. I want a system that won't kill me...

Actually ordered the cab as an 8 ohm. Mainly because if I add another cab, that will effectively change it to 4 ohm. If I had to chase 2 ohm, I would just start over with different cab/amp. We play mainly rock covers, and some country so there is a need for deep down tone. Nothing overly...

Just as a follow up: I ordered a TB153, for the love of the bottom end, and should be here next week. Amp will prob. be Carvin BX500 or GK 500. Sansamp will be ordered soon!
